Discografia de Children Of Bodom

La banda se formó en el año 1993 por el actual vocalista/guitarrista Alexi Laiho y el batero Jaska Raatikainen bajo el nombre de Inearthed. Con Inearthed, todos los integrantes originales de Children of Bodom, salvo el tecladista que entró a formar parte del grupo cuando cambió el nombre editaron sus primeras demos antes de fichar por la discográfica Spinefarm Records. El actual nombre proviene de un célebre crimen, aún sin resolver, ocurrido en el Lago Bodom en Finlandia en los años 60; cuando un atacante desconocido asesinó a puñaladas a cuatro jóvenes en medio de la noche.5

En su día sorprendieron con su disco "Something Wild" (1997) por su virtuosismo. La banda se consolidó con sus dos siguientes trabajos (Hatebreeder y Follow the Reaper) las cuáles les dieron a conocer en toda Europa. Sus temas llenos de furia y sentimiento pero con un lado melódico siempre presente les han convertido en una de las grandes influencias de muchos grupos de Heavy Metal que surgen en la actualidad, siguieron con el álbum Hate Crew Deathroll, más duro y menos melódico que nunca. Poco después de lanzar Hate Crew Deathroll el guitarrista Alexander Kuoppala abandonó la formación siendo reemplazado por Roope Latvala.

Después de una larga gira por Europa y Estados Unidos, editan un EP y un DVD, ambos bajo el título "Trashed, Lost & Strung Out", en el cual se incluyen dos temas nuevos y dos versiones, "Bed of Nails" de Alice Cooper y "She´s Beautiful" de Andrew W.K. El DVD incluye varios temas en directo de la que sería la última actuación de la banda con Alexander en la segunda guitarra extraídos del festival finlandés Tuska 2003, los video clips del nuevo tema "Trashed, Lost & Strungout" y de "Sixpounder" y media hora de metraje en el que la banda recorre Helsinki, mostrando el lago Bodom, el local en el que ensayan y el club Tavastia. Después de otra mini-gira por los EEUU el grupo volvió a sumergirse en el estudio para comenzar con la grabación de "Are You Dead Yet?" el cual incluía varios elementos industriales y presenta una innovación en el estilo de la banda.

"In your Face" es el primer single de "Are you Dead Yet?" y consigue romper moldes como nunca antes lo había conseguido ninguna banda europea. El sonido es potente y crudo, con un ligero toque de la nueva escuela pero conservando en todo momento la esencia técnica y melódica que siempre ha caracterizado a los jóvenes fineses. La sorpresa llega con el segundo tema del single, "Oops!! I did it again" una versión de la cantante pop Britney Spears.

El 10 de octubre del 2006 se lanzó su nuevo DVD titulado "Chaos Ridden Years - Stockholm Knockout Live", producción filmada el 5 de febrero en el Arenan de Estocolmo, Suecia. La nueva placa contiene más de 3 horas completas divididas en: el show completo en Suecia dirigido por Patric Ullaeus, videos, fotografías y un documental inédito sobre la historia de la banda.

Actualmente la banda esta grabando en Helsinki "Blooddrunk", sexto album de la banda. Su lanzamiento ha sido anunciado oficialmente el día 2 de Abril en Finlandia y el 7 de Abril en el resto de Europa. Contendrá 4 covers y una nueva versión de Tie My Rope, un single anterior cuyo resultado no acabó de convencer al grupo. Se puede realizar un seguimiento del proceso de grabación en su web oficial.

Children Of Bodom: Something Wild

Something Wild es el primer trabajo de Children Of Bodom. Fue muy popular en la escena underground de Finlandia en ese momento, llegando a los puestos mas altos de las ventas en el pais, y aumentando su fama internacional en todos lados en la escena underground como "Esa banda de mental de Finlandia". La escritura de la canciones en este album es mucho mas libre y el uso de teclados tambien, y fuertes influencias del neo-classical metal son mucho mas prevalentes que en sus lanzamientos futuros como Hatebreeder o Follow The Reaper.

Children Of Bodom: Hate Crew Deathroll

Hate Crew Deathroll es el cuarto trabajo de estudio de esta gran banda. Fue lanzado bajo la discografica Century Media. Este es el ultimo album en el que el guitarrista Alexander Kuoppala participa. Fue exitoso tanto en Europa como en EE.UU., luego de que el video de "Needled 24/7" apareciera en MTV2, en el Headbanger's Ball. "Needled 24/7" tambien estuvo en el documental de Heavy Metal "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey".
Este album mostro el sonido de la banda volverse un poco mas simple y mas orientado al Power Metal y al metal clasico de los albumes anteriores. Los teclados toman un tono mas bajo, mientras que las guitarras se mantienen como el instrumento predominante.
